BEGIN: Two Year Olds
Two Year Old: “Caterpillars”

In our two-year old program our youngest children develop healthy interpersonal skills in a setting made secure by regularity and routine. Through carefully planned activities inside and outside the classroom, children learn to follow directions and naturally transition from parallel play to interactive play.  Motor skill development is enhanced through each of our disciplines.

Using the ABeka learning system, language-driven methods are introduced, which include several activities, among them; Bible stories, action games, finger plays, painting, and building blocks, all resulting in vocabulary and language development.  In the creative development of language, we include poetry and rhyming, special activities, dramatic play, singing, among many other activities. These result in skill development of memorization and learning to develop use of expression. 

At this young age, the children are learning hand-eye coordination through various projects, including shapes and numbers. As they begin to learn to follow directions, they practice hand-eye coordination, color large simple forms on skill sheets, and participate in music and movement activities. Our two’s play in a separate area from the older children. The ratio for this age group is one teacher to eight children.
